Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) is a physical therapy program used to correct any atypical patterns of the oral and facial muscles. It involves strengthening and retraining the muscles of the face and the mouth to function as they should. The benefits of achieving the goals of OMT may include: improved sleep, breathing, posture, speech, digestion, and more.

I am a Registered Dental Hygienist and Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist with 10 years of experience in the dental field. I am the owner of Airway Spot Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy, where I provide mobile and virtual therapy services for clients aged 3 and up.

I started my journey into Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy after the birth of my second child. I had been a lifelong mouth breather and both of my children were showing symptoms of tongue tie, oral dysfunction, and sleep and breathing issues. As I began researching my children’s symptoms, I began learning how myofunctional disorders can impact not only oral health, but overall health and wellbeing. At that point, I knew that myofunctional therapy was something that I wanted to further pursue in my career.

As an Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist, I strive to educate my clients and empower them to live better and healthier lives. My therapy programs are specifically tailored to the needs of each client to ensure they receive the approach that works best for them. I am always aiming to address the root cause of their problems rather than just treating their symptoms.
